SpaceX Falcon Heavy Launches NASA’s $4 Billion Roman Space Telescope

SpaceX successfully launched NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope aboard a Falcon Heavy rocket from Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The roughly $4 billion observatory is traveling to the Sun-Earth L2 point, approximately 1 million miles from Earth, for a planned five-year science mission. Roman will study dark energy, dark matter and exoplanets while producing wide-field observations of billions of galaxies. The successful mission represents another major NASA payload launched by SpaceX’s heavy-lift rocket.
