SpaceX and Tesla are aiming to develop 200 gigawatts of solar-production capacity per year, Elon Musk said at an event in Washington.

Musk linked the target to SpaceX’s longer-term plans for orbital computing, arguing that solar infrastructure in space could provide substantially higher utilization than ground-based generation. He also said Starship could reach a weekly or twice-weekly launch cadence in 2027, supporting the deployment of increasingly large satellite and computing infrastructure.
