Google plans to launch the first orbital test for its Project Suncatcher space-based AI initiative aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-18 rideshare mission.

The prototype satellite, built with Planet, will test Google Tensor Processing Units in the space environment as the company explores whether large-scale machine-learning infrastructure could eventually operate in orbit. The Falcon 9 launch is currently targeted for October 1 from Vandenberg Space Force Base.
