SpaceX launched the classified NROL-97 mission aboard Falcon Heavy, marking the first time the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office has used the heavy-lift rocket.

The mission was procured under the U.S. National Security Space Launch Phase 3 Lane 2 program. Falcon Heavy’s center core was expended while both side boosters returned to landing zones at Cape Canaveral. NROL-97 was Falcon Heavy’s 14th flight and expanded SpaceX’s role in U.S. national-security launches.
